...linocut (a printmaking technique)...

Daily Deviation

Given 2007-08-14

linocut1 by ~kamilsmala is a linocut. This means that everything white in this image was carved out a sheet of linoleum, the surface inked and then printed on paper. Which makes ~kamilsmala some kind of God in my book. This makes me want to sell my tools and take up shoe-making or something. (Featured by `stigmatattoo)

Wow... this is lino...? The craftmanship is absolutely amazing. This image is absolutely beautiful with its different tones and shading, and... just wow. I don't know what to say, I'm honestly awestruck by your ability.

Printmaking is awsome. I really hope to get into it this coming year at school.

But as for the peice, also awsome. I really like the peices that just show a figure that tells so much without being overtly obvious. (Such as a woman in a swimsuit is about sex or something a ruther) But figures like this can be interpreted any number of ways and all the explanations can be different. Favorited.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark out, and we're wearing sunglasses.

this really, really impresses me, as does the rest of your gallery. the brushstrokes in your paintings have a flow that gives them the texture of fabric, and this print has the same quality, something i'm sure isn't easily achieved with carving. there's something intuitive about it. i'm going to fave this piece and watch you.
